Listening to English songs is fun and they help your listening practice too.  You don't need to understand all the words - you can understand if the song is sad, happy angry etc. from the sound!

How to make a vocabulary bag

Picture
To help you remember new or difficult words.

On pieces of paper write:

WORD                                (intelligent - adj)
MEANING                           (=clever, opposite of stupid)
EXAMPLE SENTENCE        (Einstein was very ___________)

On the other side of the paper you can write the Turkish word.  Put all the paper in a plastic bag.

How do you play the game?
Take 1 card from your bag and look at it.
If you see the Turkish word then say the English word.
If you see the English word, say the Turkish word.

This is a good way to practice before an English test.

Listening 3 - Real English!

Listen to me speaking to another teacher.  This is real English because we are speaking normally, not speaking slowly for students!  So this will be difficult.

Read these questions and think about possible answers:
(Remember, Where questions = place, How old = age....)

Where are her parents from?

Where do her family live?

How old is her mother?

How many brothers and sisters does she have?

When did she last go to Canada?

Now listen and answer the questions.  Click here to listen.

Did you hear all the answers?
How many times did you listen to hear all the answers?

Speaking practice - Talk to yourself!!!

Picture
Talk to yourself!
Here is a good idea to practice your vocabulary and speaking...
Look around you...what can you see?

Here is an example...
"There are lots of houses here.  They are different colours, red, green and yellow.  There are 9 windows.  Today there is a lot of traffic.  I don't like traffic.  Lots of cars are white and grey..."

You can think these ideas in your head.  Try to use sentences...so you can practice your grammar too.

Here is another example...

"Today is Tuesday 1 February.  I go to school every Tuesday to study English.  Today we have a test.  I am frightened!!!!"

Speak to yourself everyday for 2 minutes...after 2 weeks you will be very good at speaking!
